What’s so special about Urban Leather’s oil/wax pull –up leather?

The hides used for Urban Leather’s oil/wax pull-up collection are chosen for their soft hand and near perfect appearance. In pull-up leathers, there are color variations from hide to hide, and even in different areas within a hide. This variation gives a natural and distinguished look from the very beginning. Over time the leather will gently distress in areas of higher use. (i.e. seat and arms) giving the appearance of a cherished family heirloom. These features help to re-create the look and charm of old world leathers.


If it’s Perfect…


In the same way that human fingerprints are unique, aniline leathers have natural and individual marketings as well. These include: healed scars, neck and belly wrinkles, scratches, insect bites and brands all varying from hide to hide. Aniline leathers also exhibit subtle, natural color variations due to leather’s ability to accept dyes in various areas of the hide. These markings and color shading distinguish genuine leather from man-made materials such as vinyl, and also from leathers whose “character” is stamped on with heat or pressure.


Appreciating the differences between hides means appreciating differences on individual items of furniture as well because no item of furniture can be produced from a single hide.
